After retiring as a player, he transitioned into coaching and managing, notably leading the Los Angeles Dodgers from 2011 to 2015 and the Miami Marlins from 2016 to 2022. Known for his calm leadership and baseball IQ, Mattingly remains a respected figure in the sport, currently serving as bench coach for the Toronto Blue Jays.
